Categories of gender and sexuality, though deeply personal, are also profoundly public. The steps we take to navigate through our world involve an endless, repeating series of choices having to do with our gender and sexual identities. We seek to make our learning environments richer, more meaningful, satisfying and pleasurable for students as well as for educators. The work that is produced in these kinds of thoughtfully curated spaces has positive consequences on the worlds and lives they come into contact with beyond academia. By bringing these issues to the forefront of our discussions we foster the creation of the inclusive environments we believe in.
