Classroom Workshops for Students and Educators
Getting the Words Right: (class-visits)
This workshop is designed to be conducted during a class period, and involves the participation of all the students and the lead faculty. Students will be introduced to the core concepts of LGBTQIA+ inclusivity, and will participate in activities that will help them recognize and look out for non-verbal cues of discrimination and alienation, indirect discrimination, microagression and unconscious bias. We will learn some simple, effective strategies for becoming visible allies, practicing empathic listening towards peers and faculty, and we will review available resources on and around campus.
* These class-visit workshops are tailored to the length and size of the class.
*Those educators interested in scheduling multiple visits to one class, or in collaborating on workshops tailored to the specifics of a course they are teaching, are welcome to write to us for more information.
